Retro Review : Yoshi Story

This weeks Retro Review is one of those games that never manage to stand the test of time but is still burned in the memories of older gamers. Yoshi Story is this weeks Retro Review and it's... well read on.

Yoshi Story is ironic. It doesn't have a story! If you can find a story in it then you'll find that it's thinner then paper and was probably written on one piece of paper too. The game is also extremely simple too... so simple that it's insulting. It was a game that when I was a kid it was fun but as an adult who wasted 1000 Wii points for it, I feel like I was stupid for liking it. The controls are simple, the gameplay is simple, it is clearly a game for little kids... really little kids! Seriously I played it when it first came out and I played it as a fanboy and now I can see the game is for ages 4-8 years old. The game also seems to have no real punishment for dying and it can be cleared extremely fast.

Yoshi Story was a good game when it first came out because we were young but as an adult it proved that nostalgia can be both good and bad, this is one of those bad games that seriously is a Wii game for your kids... not you. It's a game to raise your kids on but ween them to better games around 8 years old or even better, raise them on the games you started on and advance them similarly to your own video game growth.
