Retro Review : Super Metroid

This week my Retro Review is inspired by the Metroid Other M info flooding game sites. Super Metroid is one of the best Super Nintendo games and is where the Metroid series was at it's best. Seriously Metroid should have always been a side scroller.

A long time ago, there was a series of games that were popular and featured a female main character. The game series was Metroid, a 2d side scrolling dungeon crawler. Super Metroid is the 3rd game in the series and the best of the series. Super Metroid returns Samus into Space Pirate territory and has her exploring the depths of Zebes and Tourian. The games a dungeon crawler which means a lot of back tracking and saving. Samus gets a large amount of power ups ranging from weapons, abilities and armor. If you've ever played the first Metroid game you'll notice that a lot of areas in Super Metroid look like visual upgrades of original areas. The games bosses are large in size and challenging. There are so many upgrades to find so unless you know how to get them through the game with all the upgrades in one fluid play fast, then your going to be playing for a loooong time.

Super Metroid is like most Castlevania games in terms of how the game is setup and Nintendo needs to go back to the old style of gameplay like this game. Super Metroid is the best of the Metroid games and if you've never played this game, you must download it on the Wii because it's one of the best games you can download for the Virtual Console.
