Retro Review : Sonic The Hedgehog

Here's another Retro Review, a little late thanks to friends and other obligations... *cough* Halo 3 ODST *cough* I haven't really updated my blog. So here we are better late then never it's my Retro Review of the classic Sega Mega Drive/Genesis hit Sonic the Hedgehog.

Back in the days of yore people had hardly any games and game heroes to enjoy, then came the almost anti-hero-like Sonic the Hedgehog for Mario to rival for over 10 years. The Story was simple, Dr Robotnik(Now known as Dr Eggman now) has turned animals into robots and is trying to collect the Chaos Emeralds to take over the world and Sonic must defeat him... simple but worked. The gameplay was get from 1 end of the of the stage to the other within 10 minute and get as much points and rings as possible and every 3rd act you fight Robotnik. The game was fast and fun and is where Sonic needs to return to if Sega whats to keep making real money from him. Plus the control scheme was simple so anyone can play even you parents when you were younger or your kids today. The game is fun, always has always will and will remain one of the best platformer games in history. Off-topic Sonic's new game coming to PS3 and 360 promises that Sonic will be back in 2D and return him to where he belongs but in my opinion pay the $AU99.95 for it at EB or Game and return it within the 7 day period after you find out if you like it and even if you do return it, buy it at a cheaper place unless you price matched with a cheaper place.
